Roles of Sea Turtles in the Ecosystem

Did you know that sea turtles play key roles in two important ecosystems?
In oceans- Sea turtles eat sea grass that grows on the sea floor.  It is essential for sea grass to remain short in order for them to stay healthy.  Healthy sea grass beds ensure that species of fish and marine life will thrive bountifully.
Beaches and dunes- When sea turtles come to shore to lay eggs, hatchlings that fail to make it back into the ocean decompose and become a source of nutrient for dune vegetation.
Sea turtles are very important to both marine and human life.   I am happy that many laws have been passed to help protect sea turtles.

  1. Hi! I am a new follower of your blog thru GFC on the Sunday Blog Hop! Your blog looks really good and I love the pics of the sea turtles. Have never seen their eggs or how small they look when born. Thank you. I am new with about 3 months under my belt so I am still learning. I would love a follow back when you get a chance. Thanks!
